Satara-based petty road-works contractor, Sachin Tichkule, faces challenges when the Satara Municipal Corporation puts a hold on his payment. He decides to sue them, while his extended family deal with the crisis of a recently-collapsed bridge resulting in 65 deaths. If matters were not bad enough, the new Municipal Commissioner is none other than his estranged girlfriend/ex-collegian, Gehna Ganpule. Sachin had abused and assaulted her in Mumbai a few years ago, and she is now determined to blacklist him at any and all costs. While comically dealing with indolent employees, his sister's marriage, an elephant, a road-roller &c. he lands in even more hot water when the local police get ready to prosecute him for alleged Sexual Molestation, as well as Assault and Threats to Kill Gehna's brother. A seemingly corrupt petty contractor faces challenges from the local municipality, his family, his employees, as well as a former girlfriend and her family. Priyadarshan made good dramatic films like GARDISH and VIRASAT before shifting to comedy which became his forte but off recent his films got repetitive, he tried to do other kinda cinema like Aakrosh which flopped too. Khatta Meetha was Akki-Priyan's subsequent release after the average De Dana Dan, which was a comedy this is a satire and tries to be different but ends being a mayhem. Priyan had given Akshay's career a filip with Garam Masala which was the film that made him famous in comedies and became a hit but sadly off recent their pairing became not too successful. This film is a remake of Priyan's Vellanakalude Nadu (1988) as in most of his films. It tries hard to be serious in the second half but comes as a farce. In fact the script is of convenience, It's hardly logical, The drama in the house is so 80s like, it's hard to digest Akshay's corrupt nature is inconsistent, One fails to understand if he is corrupt then why his corrupt brother in laws don't support him? Lot of loopholes, anyway finding logic in Priyan's films is rare The film is very predictable, loud as usual and gets irritating Trisha's character is even more confusing, her change of heart looks too sudden. The second half gets dramatic and does get a bit engaging towards the end but it's less to undo the harm<br/><br/>Priyan handles some scenes well especially comedy scenes and dramatic scenes too but it's getting boring now, But the scene in Asrani's house, the climax fight between Akshay and Jaideep are well handled Music is okay, Sajde is the best song, rest are forced<br/><br/>Akshay Kumar tries hard to look a commonman and does well but does tend to scream and overdo too often too much. Trisha fails as an actress, she doesn't look a municipal commissioner Amongst rest mostly regulars of Priyan films Rajpal Yadav does his same role it's getting boring, Asrani is as usual, Johny Lever does invoke laughter in a small role, Manoj Joshi is loud, Milind Gunaji has too brief a role, Khulbushan Kharbanda is okay, Aruna Irani seen after a hiatus is wasted, Makrand gets no role, Jaideep is amazing, Urvashi last seen in NAQAAB is okay Let me start be saying those who went to watch it only as a comic flick i am sorry it is not one the name itself should explain itself it is a comic film with a social message and also a moral with some great action climax scene for all old Khiladi Akshay fans. In short it follows from Bhool Bhulaiya where we had horror and comedy here we have a lot of plots coming together jilted lovers,social message,thrill elements,comedy and a fast moving guerrilla style fight climax to round up. Good performances by Rajpal Yadav,Asrani ,new villain,new item song . ALL in all a complete family entertainer . I will just say watch it once ,twice you will never get bored i cant wait for action replay,Patiala house go AK Hey also the ending song made everyone in the hall stay back good strategy and no unnecessary twists wrapped the movie quick also after the Horror comdey Bhool Bhulaiya it was a nice change. Priyan is the master and i am a lifelong fan. I can actually go on and on about the movie its impact it had on me as a viewer but in a nutshell it is a movie with a serious theme with some light elements thrown so as not to bore the viewer cheers & good bless
